From 4-9 December 2023, the 22nd edition of the International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA 2023) will take place in Harare, Zimbabwe. ICASA is one of the largest HIV conferences in Africa, held every two years, bringing together numerous partners, activists, and communities dedicated to ending AIDS and showcasing the diverse nature of the African region's HIV epidemic and its unique responses to it.
Y+ Global is proud to take centre stage at this year's conference and is committed to raising our voices, strengthening partnerships, addressing barriers and gaps in the HIV response and identifying solutions to some of the most pressing issues impacting adolescents and young people across the region.
"Empowering youth through platforms like ICASA 2023 is not just an event; it's a catalyst for change. As young leaders converge to shape the future of the HIV response, they bring a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion; every voice matters. Their presence at ICASA 2023 isn't just a moment; it's a movement—a testament to the power of youth engagement in forging a healthier, more inclusive tomorrow for all young people living with and affected by HIV”Maximina Jokonya
Interim Executive Director, Y+ Global
And ICASA provides an excellent opportunity to do that. Working with partners such as Aidsfonds, Frontline AIDS, GNP+, the Global Fund, UNICEF, UNAIDS, and ViiV, among others, Y+ Global is leading and supporting various significant events and engagements through our essential programs such as READY, Her Voice Fund, Love Alliance, UNITED! Movement, Vibrant Young Voices, and You(th) Care. These events focus on enlightening and empowering young people through youth-focused sessions, enabling them to advocate more effectively for the communities they serve.
During the course of one week, which includes the READY Summit on December 3rd, the ICASA Pre-Youth Conference on December 4th, and the main ICASA Conference from December 5th to 9th, Y+ Global have produced a roadmap of important events and opportunities for young people to register, participate and engage meaningfully in.
