Are you a young woman or adolescent girl (AGYW) in Nigeria, aged between 18 and 28? Are you passionate about advocating for AGYW's leadership in decision-making processes that impact our lives? Do you have the drive to make a real difference in the health and lives of adolescent girls and young women? If you answered yes to all three questions, then the Gender Equality Fund Ambassador position may be for you.
The Global Network of Young People Living with HIV (Y+ Global) is seeking to recruit a Gender Equality Fund (GEF) Ambassador in Nigeria.
The GEF Ambassador position is integral to our broader initiative aimed at enhancing the meaningful engagement of adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in decision-making processes that directly impact their lives. The GEF Ambassador will play a pivotal role in advocating for gender equality, with a particular focus on mainstreaming gender equality in the programming of HIV, Tuberculosis (TB) and Malaria within the Nigerian context.
The Gender Equality Fund (GEF) is an extension of the HER Voice Fund, which is currently being implemented in 13 African countries. GEF is dedicated to empowering women, girls, and gender-diverse communities to advocate for programs, policies, and approaches promoting gender equality. Its main goal is to reduce the spread of HIV and TB among adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) and to contribute to the global target of ending HIV and TB by 2030. GEF is funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, in collaboration with GSK and ViiV Healthcare.
Recognising the invaluable knowledge and expertise of adolescent girls and young women, as well as the vital need for their ethical empowerment, meaningful engagement, and leadership in decisions that impact their lives, the Gender Equality Fund is seeking to recruit a dedicated Ambassador in Nigeria.
The GEF is anchored on HER Voice Fund Strategy, which aligns with the Y+ Global Strategic Plan 2022-2025 pillar one, Raise Our Voice, which focuses on strengthening accountability to ensure that laws and policies reflect the rights and needs of AGYW in all our diversity, including AGYW living with HIV, AGYW living with disabilities, those who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer (LGBTIQ+), AGYW living in conflict-affected zones, those in rural areas, AGYW who inject or use drugs, AGYW who sell sex, pregnant AGYW, and young mothers.
