The ICASA conference is fast approaching, and Y+ Global is set to play a significant role in it. As the leading implementor of the READY Movement, Y+ Global will be collaborating with Frontline AIDS to organise the READY Summit on 3 December. The summit will be held at the Holiday Inn in Harare and will be attended by over 100 advocates, including representatives from the READY Movement, as well as from Y+ Global's flagship programs such as the Her Voice Fund, Vibrant Young Voices, Love Alliance and more.
The theme for the Summit is Young People Unite: Addressing Inequalities, Ending AIDS! READY partners, including the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, CANGO, PATA, REPSSI, Zvandiri and many more supporters, including UNICEF, UNDP, UNAIDS, UNWomen, ViiV Healthcare and more, will be in attendance.
More importantly, this Summit is about giving the space and platform to the many young activists and advocates who have built the READY Movement into what it is today and encouraging others to join the cause. It is a platform for these diverse groups to unite, share experiences, and work together towards ending AIDS while addressing the underlying inequalities that fuel the epidemic.
“I am delighted that the inaugural READY summit is finally here! At the summit, we will showcase the progress in the READY movement, highlight the new READY to Evolve strategy and show how you can be part of this movement that has created visibility, promotes meaningful representation, and enhances youth leadership and accountability.”Joyce Ouma
READY Movement Coordinator and Advocacy and Campaigns Officer, Y+ Global
The Summit program consists of panel discussions and interactive fireside chats that cover a wide range of issues pertaining to the unique challenges, gaps, and barriers faced by marginalised youth. Additionally, delegates will have the opportunity to participate in carefully crafted breakout sessions that aim to develop the skills of young advocates on various intersectional topics that interest them the most. The Summit will culminate with a READY Cocktail event and dinner gala to encourage networking and fundraising and the official launch of the READY to Evolve Strategy, an interim strategy designed to shape the trajectory of the READY movement for the next four years.
