EmpowHER Baseline Asessment Evidence and Advocacy Brief
The EmpowHER CHOICE evidence brief presents implementation baseline assessment findings on HIV prevention knowledge, information sources, preferences, service experiences and decision-making among adolescent girls and young women in and around Soweto, South Africa. The findings show that while awareness of HIV prevention is high, gaps remain in knowledge of specific options, provider interactions, privacy and practical access. As HIV prevention options expand, the brief highlights the importance of moving beyond product availability towards choice-enabling systems that provide accurate information, respectful services, meaningful options and the autonomy to make informed, voluntary decisions.
