This statement, developed by the UNITED! Movement in collaboration with Youth Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) representatives from across East and Southern Africa, calls for the meaningful inclusion of young people in all stages of the Global Fund Grant Cycle Eight (GC8). It highlights the urgent need to center youth leadership in a region heavily affected by HIV, TB, and malaria, where young people make up a significant proportion of the population yet remain underrepresented in decision-making processes. The statement outlines clear recommendations for engaging youth in grant application, grant-making, and implementation, while urging stakeholders to move beyond tokenistic approaches and invest in youth-led solutions to ensure impactful, equitable, and sustainable health responses.
